REDUCE clutter, REUSE toys, RECYCLE happiness
Sassy Moms in the City and Second Chance Toys, an organization that rescues and recycles gently used plastic toys for needy children, have teamed up to collect unwanted toys for Chicago. Sassy Moms in the City has become the official partner to launch the Chicago Area Chapter which provides parents with an eco-friendly way to purge toys they no longer want.
For parents who live in a metropolitan city, square footage and storage can be limited. Second Chance Toys offers parents an outlet to not only free up space in their own lives, but to recycle and repurpose their unneeded toys and brighten the day of children of need within their own community. Donations help our environment by keeping non-biodegradable plastics out of our landfills.
The Chicago chapter officially launched with a toy drive on August 14th hosted in conjunction with our daughter’s first birthday party. Guests were asked to bring 1-2 gently used plastic toys in lieu of gifts. We were thrilled when parents showed up with several bags of toys which were donated to the West Side Future YMCA. The feedback we received from friends and family was extremely positive and we are excited to be a part of such a wonderful organization.
