holiday hair in 4 easy steps with revlon #bestofbeauty

Confession – I ran out of time on Thanksgiving to do anything with my hair, so I left the house in a baseball hat.  Good thing baseball hats are trending!  The hat actually looked fairly decent with my outfit (see pictures of what I wore here), but it wasn’t the look that I was going for on Thanksgiving.

Once we got to my parents for dinner, I ran to the bathroom and within 5 minutes, I had holiday-ready hair.

To get started with this sleeked back look, I plugged in the Revlon Laser Brilliance 1-1/4″ Infrared Straightener.  Boy, that thing heated up really quickly!  Once it reached the temp that I wanted, I started to straighten my hair from the roots to about my shoulders.  Since I was working on putting my hair into a bun, there was no reason to straighten all of it.  Tip – even though I used a brush for the hair that I straighten, I did not brush out the rest of my hair.  Why?  Messy hair holds better when it’s put up.  I should also point out that my hair was a bit dirty – and when doing an up-do, that’s a good thing!

After straightening, I pulled my hair into a ponytail at about the middle of my head.  (I could have easily gone into a top knot, but I wanted something a little more sophisticated, hence the mid-bun.)

Then I twisted my ponytail and wrapped it around – securing it with Goody’s Simple Style Spin Pins and a few bobby pins.

Once everything was pinned in place, I sealed it all with (lots) of hairspray.  And then I was officially ready to celebrate Thanksgiving!

I love this hairstyle because not only is it quick, it’s also versatile!  If the sleeked back is too “stiff” for me, I just loosen the front and create more of a messy do.
