elf on the shelf and fun ideas
Elf on the Shelf has arrived the sassy home – meet Charlie. For the past three years I told myself- ya gotta get one of those Elf on the shelf thingies. So now we have and now I’m required to come up with fun, creative ideas that our new family member does to keep the girls in check leading up to Christmas.
I’ve held off on the Elf because I’m not one to follow marketing trends when it comes to kids, however it doesn’t look like Elf on the Shelf is going away any time soon. Search Elf on the Shelf on Google and Pinterest and it’s safe to say there are hundreds of fun ideas for the elf. I’m sure you probably have, considering I am seriously behind the eight ball here.
I’m not sure how many of these I would actually do but it is entertaining to watch the girls get excited. Apparently they talk about the Elf on the Shelf at school including the teachers. We have never discussed the Elf prior to last night and the girls knew that he had magic powers.
Last night Charlie decided to ease into his mischievous ways by helping himself to a glass of water. Or is that vodka? Out of respect for his privacy we’ll never tell.
Fun Ideas for Elf on the Shelf:
The Little Style File’s Elf on the Shelf Pinterest Board – very cool printables that we are using (see photo above).
There’s an entire website dedicated to Elf on the Shelf Ideas with photo examples. Hilarious!
Then Blossum Bunk House published her list of 101 Elf on the Shelf ideas. Wow. 101 ideas – impressive. Some are helpful but others were a little much. Apparently she annoyed the heck out of People I want to Punch in the Throat because it resulted in her writing Over Achieving Elf on the Shelf Mommies. Don’t let this happen to YOU!
These are just a few (and I do mean a few). You could spend all day looking at this stuff.
