Chicago Toy & Game Fair (Recap)
How often does the chance to play like a kid and connect with toy inventors come around? Lucky for us it comes around annually at the Chicago Toy & Game Fair. Thanks to our friends from Chicagonista and #ChiTag for including us in the 10 year anniversary celebration this weekend.
The highlight was meeting John Spinello, inventor of my favorite childhood game, Operation and seeing the original prototype, a10 by 10-inch box with a 12-volt lantern battery that triggers a 6-volt bell. It was an honor to meet the person responsible for creating such wonderful childhood memories.
What could be better than spending a Saturday surrounded by toys, games and their inventors from all over the world? To keep emotions under control, the girls were given strict instructions that we were there to LOOK for (not buy) items to include in our letters to Santa. Let the fun begin!!
The girls went crazy for Pony Royale, Plasmacar, Razor’s Flashrider 360, Bananagrams and American Dollhouses.
Local exhibitor, Ben’s Bubble Show was a big hit keeping us mesmerized with soap bubble sculptures created with his bare hands! There were bubbles within bubbles, smoke bubbles, and even Mickey Mouse shaped bubbles. After dragging the girls away, we finally made it to the giant inflatable slide hosted by the Chicago Fire Department. Leaving caused a few meltdowns.
Our last stop was meeting the inventor mom behind the new Eat to Win board game, flashcards and soon to launch personal food tracker. Considering our constant struggle motivating the girls to eat more vegetables and introducing new foods, I was excited to get my hands on the flashcards.
It was a fun day creating memories we will remember forever and of course we can’t wait until next year!
Sassy Moms in the City was provided complimentary tickets to Chicago Toy & Game Fair and a goodie bag with sample toys for review. Opinions are honest and our own.
