Gadget Scoop: T-Mobile Tablets Moms Will Love

T-Mobile Moms can now rejoice with the release of not one but TWO tablets which are giving the IPad a run for its money!

The T-Mobile® G-Slate™ with Google™ by LG is great for the tech mom who wants the latest innovation in tablets, high definition graphics and cameras as well as the ability to record video in 3D.  Packed with a brilliant, high-definition (HD) 8.9-inch, 3D-capable multi-touch display, the T-Mobile G-Slate delivers a ground-breaking mobile entertainment experience, including the ability to record 3D and full HD video. Have the need for speed? It doesn’t get any faster than T-Mobile’s 4G and this is speaking from my own experience using the G2 Google phone.

The other amazing feature is it supports Adobe® Flash® Player which means you can watch video (unlike the IPad).

Got Stretch Marks? Apothederm Has You Covered

I am lucky. Lucky in the sense that after two pregnancies my body did not turn on me all together. It left me a little bit of dignity and spared me from stretch marks.

I have many friends who were not so fortunate and were not sure how to prevent or what product was worth trying.  Apothederm recently launched a skincare line with  SmartPeptides™ that specifically targets your areas of concern such as crow’s feet, laugh lines or stretch marks.

Why should you be interested? Apothederm is paraben, phthalate, and fragrance free, and does not contain pore-clogging or formaldehyde releasing ingredients. They’re also backed by science.

A leading dermatologist conducted an independent study using Apothederm’s Stretch Mark Cream, and here are the results:

  • 70% of participants experienced the first signs of visible improvement in stretch marks in 14 days
  • 90+% of participants saw overall improvement after 12 weeks of continued use

The study was based on 30 subjects and included new and old stretch marks as well as red and silver stretch marks. Data on file.

The Mommy Diet Review

I like Alison Sweeney. For starters she’s a working mom and openly admits her struggle to keep off the baby weight. She acknowledges her access to the best trainers and nutritionists but is eager to share the advice, tips and tricks she has learned.

I was anxious to be inspired while traveling with husband last month to San Juan. Who wants to think about dieting on vacation? Someone who is looking for motivation, that’s who.

Boy was I wrong. The Mommy Diet is not a “how to” diet book or just for first time moms. It is a great guide focusing on fitness, diet and overall health. Whether you are considering getting pregnant, expecting a baby, post baby or need a kick start program like me, The Mommy Diet offers something for every stage of mommyhood.

Potty Training On the Go – City Style

No part of potty training is glamorous, however it is a development skill that must be taught to our little ones. Throw in the city living and potty training brings on unique challenges. How will your kiddo access the potty while at the park, beach, street festivals, outdoor market or your morning walk?

This occurred to me when we were in the midst of potty training sassy kid #1. I asked my nanny how others were handling trips to the potty while at the park (specifically girls) where public restrooms are not accessible. She proceeded to tell me that many childcare providers would hold up a blanket and the girls would squat in the grass. While I am very familiar with this technique (I was raised in the south), I could not wrap my head around my 17 month old daughter learning how to go to the bathroom in the bushes. Let’s save that skill until AFTER the toilet has been mastered.

When I asked other sassy moms, no one seemed to have a solution other than taking the typical training toilet that sits on the bathroom floor. While that is an option, it does not fit in the bottom of the stroller and who wants to carry around a disgusting toilet?

Friday Night Frozen Pizza Taste Test

Serving pizza EVERY Friday night has somehow become a demand and now an expectation in our house. Sassy kid #1 loves pizza, but like most kids only wants cheese and pepperoni. Our favorite local delivery is Lou Malnati’s but I could no longer stand by and watch my oldest pick apart a pizza. Not only is it wasteful, it was driving me crazy. Just eat it already!

My solution? Frozen pizza. It’s become a running joke in our neighborhood but I think it may be catching on.

One would think this would be a simple task of making a selection at our grocer’s freezer. Not so much. It’s a known fact in our family that I am extremely picky about my pizza. If you ask husband he would say I was a pizza snob.

After several attempts with many different brands that produce thin crust, we finally found our winner!

Finally, An All Natural Skincare Product Created by Another Mom

A few months ago I was introduced to Kim Walls, a mother of two and founder of Episencial. It was a fortunate introduction because it turns out that  Kim has done wonderful things for moms who are trying to find skincare products free from the bad stuff like parabens, phthalates and fragrances.

When our first baby arrived almost four years ago I immediately banned all toxic cleaning products except for Shaklee and purchased books like the Gorgeously Green and Green Goes with Everything. Needless to say husband was a little annoyed and thought I was cuckoo for cocoa puffs when I laid down the law that bleach was no longer permitted to pass through our doorway. Hey, I was on a mission to protect my unborn child!!

The Great Stroller Debate… What are you driving? Part 2

When I started this blog in 2009, one of the first things I wrote about was our experience with the Orbit Stroller and to be honest, it was one of the reasons I decided to blog at all. As the proud owners of a sassy stroller system, I lost count of how many times we were stopped by inquiring parents wanting to know about our Orbit experience. I guess repeating our story so many times inspired me to share it online, among many other things.

Fast forward 4 years and two kids later, we eventually outgrew the original Orbit Stroller. Thankfully in 2010, Orbit completely redesigned their system which resulted in the launch of the G2. If you read my original post (that Orbit actually read) I was very honest about the things that I wish were different.

Sassy Mom’s Must Have “Miracle” Jeans – Win A Pair & Look 10 lbs Thinner

Finding jeans that fit me well can be a daunting task. Very few brands are flattering and sorry, but there is nothing sassy about moms who let their crack hang out, have a whale tail (when we can see your thong) or have a muffin top.

Last year I traipsed down to Nordstrom determined to have my personal shopper find the perfect pair jeans. I am not exaggerating when I say I tried on EVERY single style and brand on whatever floor/section (probably T.B.D) and NOTHING worked. Since when did the crotch of jeans become so short? That explains the muffin tops and whale tails running around the city.  Needless to say I left empty handed.
