Meet Managing Editor – Alison Ray

Channeling my inner Sassy!

An award-winning Certified Meeting Planner, Alison has over sixteen years experience as a professional meeting & event planner and nine years as the CEO of Metropolitan Marketing & Event Group. Earning a BA in Marketing from Mississippi State University and a Masters of Sports Science from the United States Sports Academy, Alison’s career began in corporate fitness, interning at the renowned Cooper Institute and then working for The Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas.

Her passion for event planning eventually led the hospitality industry working with Fortune 500 companies overseeing domestic and international incentive travel programs in fabulous destinations like China, Germany, Switzerland, Monte Carlo and Italy.

Soon after the birth of her second daughter, jet-setting around the globe and being away from home was no longer enticing. Always looking for new business opportunities, Alison’s passion for marketing, event planning, writing and sharing information came together through social media and blogging.  In 2009 SassyMomsintheCity.com launched for sophisticated women determined to maintain their style AFTER baby.

As the Managing Editor and Founder of Sassy Moms in the City, Alison has been featured in Chicago Baby Magazine, named “The Sassiest Mom” by TCW Magazine, Best Chicago Mom Blog by RedTricycle.com, Oprah LifeClass Blogger and 2011 CBS Chicago Most Valuable Blogger Nominee.

In addition to an expansive online audience, Alison produces sold out events for global companies, national brands and local businesses with 50-600 influential women in attendance, raising over $50,000 for charity partners Step Up Women’s Network, American Heart Association Go Red for Women, Dress for Success, New Moms, Inc, Bundle of Joy Diaper Bank and Neighborhood Parents Network.
