2011 Reflection & Recap

Taking stock of New Year goals is important, however reflecting on your accomplishments from the previous year is equally if not more important. Evaluating can be inspiring and provide the motivation needed to set even higher goals for yourself and business.

When reflecting on 2011, I was surprised and immensely proud of everything I somehow managed to squeeze into 12 months.  There were so many firsts and fortunately only a few lasts, but through it all I am so thankful to everyone that contributed to such an amazing year!!

Events
2011 sprang into full gear with our sold out Moms Night Out  event with CBS Radio benefiting the American Heart Association Go Red for Women initiates. Over 300 women walked the red carpet, enjoyed mini beauty treatments and fashion showcase moderated by Amy Tara Koch at Alhambra Palace on February 24th. It was inspiring to see so many moms of all ages and stages of motherhood (expectant, new and seasoned) mix and mingle and most attended wearing red!

This year we’re pulling out all the stops for Girl’s Night Out – benefitting Go Red for Women by teaming up with 104.3 KHits, B 96 and WBBM Newsradio!

Join us on Wednesday, February 29th for an evening hosted by some of Chicago’s most fabulous personalities, features a red carpet, Be Bold Go Red Spring 2012 fashion show, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, shopping, complimentary beauty services, over $4,000 in raffle prizes, swag bag and more!

Event hosts include Terri Hickey of the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, Sarah Cobb of Neighborhood Parents Network, Meredith Sinclair of Gilt Groupe, Mafia Hairdresser from the Joseph Michael Salon and Maggie Schultz from Dress for Success. 2012 is set to be bigger and better and we can’t wait to see everyone on the red carpet! Red dress, Red Shoes Optional…

VIP Tickets are $30 and available online at http://beboldgored2012.eventbrite.com/. Ticket proceeds benefit the American Heart Association Go Red for Women initiatives.

Meeting Oprah

It goes without saying that meeting Oprah was the highlight of my year. “Meeting” is one thing, but embracing is an entirely different ballgame. Oh how I’ve dreamed of that moment, visualized it in my mind over and over, had her photo on my vision board. Surprisingly, I knew exactly what to say if given the opportunity and I did. A picture is worth a thousand words and the photo that sits on my desk says it all.

Relationships & Partnerships

Surrounding yourself with likeminded professionals who support your endeavors is powerful and crucial to growing any business. In 2011 I made a conscious effort to connect with social media mavens, women entrepreneurs, brands and non-profits to collaborate on many, many projects. Looking back there were months that I definitely over extended myself, but I would never change a thing. I learned a lot and established some of my most cherished relationships to date.

Focusing on new partnerships resulted in many proud moments – an invitation to join Neighborhood Parents Network Board of Directors, creation of Moms Fashion File, highly successful social media campaigns with Splash Creative Media Group, partnering with NPN’s newly launched Moms in Business group, co-hosting one of the hottest brand events at BlogHer 2011 and hosting our inaugural 12 Days of Gifting promotion with the fabulous Metro Moms in Dallas. Whew….I’m exhausted just thinking about it!

In the News

Yes meeting Oprah was awesome but being featured in Today’s Chicago Woman Magazine was over the top! There’s press, then there is a full spread in one of Chicago’s leading print publications. As an avid reader of TCW, this was beyond exciting. Sophia Lapat’s article Redefining Moms was incredible and I am forever grateful for allowing me the opportunity to share my vision with TCW’s readers. Not to mention being photographed by one of America’s most prestigious portrait and corporate photographers, John Reilly. Talk about intimidating!

The year concluded on a high note being profiled in the 2nd edition of CRAVE Chicago – An Urban Gal’s Manifesto. I couldn’t be more proud to be among so many savvy, successful entreprenesses! Take a peak inside the book HERE and be sure to check out the fabulous video by 2Domes Media and Bum Bul Bee Photography to learn why I became part of the CRAVE community.
