Fall Nail Trends – Are You In? Are You Out?
One thing I am obsessed with is nail polish. I know this may sound odd, but the color of my polish is VERY important to me. Fingers and toes must match or at least coordinate and I like to follow the latest nail trends.
I’m convinced I am this way because my mother always had perfectly painted nails (specifically her toes). One of my most vivid childhood memories is being fixated on her painted toes.
Since having girls of my own, I realize this is apparently common. My daughter loves having her fingers and toes painted and will wear me out….
“Mommy, I want to paint my fingers.” “Mommy what color is on your toes?” “Mommy, PLEASE paint my fingers!”
Seriously, she is only 3.
My preference for fall has been the darker the better. I love the look of very deep colors on my fingers and toes. While dark polish on fingernails is difficult to maintain, I usually save this for special occasions then repaint with a lighter color until it’s time for my next mani pedi appointment.
5 Fall Nail Colors I love…
1. Essie Chinchilly – I used this polish at BlogHer ’10 and received a ton of compliments. For those that asked me what color I was wearing, here you have it.
2. Essie Wicked – I have been wearing this color for years way before Lauren Conrad and all the hot celebrities were painting their nails dark. I personally own this nail polish and keep it handy for touchups and maintenance.
3. Les Khakis de Chanel -This just out by Chanel and was featured in Rachel Zoe’s Newsletter which I am very excited to try. While you won’t find this in your local nail salon my plan is to purchase and bring to my next appointment.
4. OPI You Don’t Know Jacques – This color was recently featured on Instyle.com described as purple undertones and a mirror-like sheen make it flattering on pale and dark complexions alike.
5. OPI Lincoln Park After Dark – This is my backup if I don’t have access to Essie Wicked. Featured as the top Best Dark nail color by Instyle.com in 2009.
