Sassy Moms in the City is teaming up with Children’s Book-of-the-Month Club’s Summer Reading Series to encourage kids and parents to continue reading over summer break.
Did you know? Children who don’t read over summer vacation, risk losing more than two months of reading achievement by fall and can be two years behind their peers by the end of sixth grade?
This is why I am excited to tell you about Children’s Book-of-the-Month Club’s Summer Reading Series. As an avid reader and the mom of two daughters that love to read, we have made an effort to read at least one to two books every day to our daughters since birth. Now, at the age of 3.5 and 2.5 they can’t get enough of reading. The girls are constantly “reading” books on their own or bringing me a book to read.
Some of our favorites are Pinkalicious, Good Night Moon, Llama Llama Red Pajama and Fancy Nancy which are all featured on Children’s Book-of-the-Month Club.

Reading isn’t just for the kids! Parents set the example and when you read, kids will follow your lead. Children’s Book-of-the-Month Club offers tons of beach reading books for mom too! What’s on your must read list this summer? I’ll be finishing Tina Fey’s BossyPants which I highly recommend.
